Roy Hammond

Builder, systems thinker, and lifelong tinkerer.

This is my corner of the internet, where I share what I'm building, what I'm learning, and the systems work behind getting it all running.

About

I like understanding how things work, breaking them down, and putting them back together in a way that makes sense. Right now, that means web development, Docker, servers, and the small systems behind the scenes that keep everything running.

Projects

Personal Site and Home Web Stack

I built and host this site from my Ubuntu server with nginx running in Docker. It's part personal site, part lab, and part proof that I learn best by building something real.

  • Ubuntu server hosted at home
  • nginx running in Docker
  • Remote workflow with SSH and VS Code
  • DuckDNS used for public access

Developing Real-World IT and Coding Skills

I'm using Python as my entry point into programming and building stronger technical fundamentals as I go.

  • Learning Python as my first programming language
  • Using Git to build solid version control habits and a real development workflow
  • Using Python to learn data structures and start thinking more like a developer

Why This Site Exists

This started as a way to prove I could get a site online, but it turned into something more useful.
